You can use Announcements to communicate with your students and boost engagement in your course. There are two announcement display options: Announcements and Slim Announcements. Your course homepage defaults to the standard Announcements widget unless you enable the Slim Announcements widget. Announcements can be customized to release at a certain date and time. The training video and guide below provide step-by-step instructions and additional information to create announcements.
Note – When you have posted your announcement, an email is automatically sent to all enrolled students, unless the student has opted out of receiving notification for announcements. This cannot be adjusted.
Instructions to Create Announcements
- From your course homepage, select Announcements.
- Select New Announcement to create a new announcement.
- From the New Announcement Screen, add a Headline and Content to your announcement. There is also the ability to add images, links and more.
- Enter the date and time you want the announcement to be posted. It will default to the current time. You can also set an end time if you want the announcement to disappear later.
- Add any file attachments as needed.
- You can attach a Release Condition to the announcement. This means that the announcement won’t appear to students until they have finished another task, such as submitting an assignment.
- Click Publish.
