Create Events

The training video below provides an overview of creating events in the calendar.

Note:

  • Brightspace will automatically create a calendar event for activities with due dates.
  • Brightspace will not automatically create a calendar event for scheduled Zoom meetings. This includes lectures, office hours, and 1:1 meetings. Instructors must manually create these events.
Import Events

As an alternative to creating events inside the Brightspace calendar, instructors can import calendar events from either Google Calendar or Outlook.

Note:

  • Instructors should not import recurring events. Recurring events are imported as individual events which requires instructors to manually make edits to each instance if any changes are needed. Create recurring events directly inside Brightspace.
  • Imported events are not connected to the original calendar. As a result, any changes made to the original event will not sync with the Brightspace calendar and vice versa.

Instructions

  1. Download a .iCal file for an event in either Google or Outlook.
  1. Navigate to the Brightspace calendar using one of the methods outlined in the Access the Calendar section above.
