Grade on a Curve

Instructors can adjust the point totals on any assignment after submissions so that they can grade on a curve. Note: This process can only be done to individual assignments. There is no feature in Brightspace that allows instructors to curve the Final Grade in Brightspace.

Instructions

  1. Click My Grades on the Navbar and select Grades from the dropdown menu.

  1. Click on the Enter Grades tab.

  1. Click the dropdown arrow next to any grade item and select Edit from the dropdown menu.

  1. Adjust the value in the Maximum Points field to curve all grades for this grade item.

  1. Click Save and Close.

  1. Click Yes on the confirmation popup. Note: Anyone who scored more points than the new maximum will have their grade automatically adjusted to the new maximum. This caveat does not apply if the Can Exceed checkbox is checked in step 5.
